Public Meeting Held for Community Feedback on Ohio River Bridge

November 26, 2019

The purpose is to evaluate the need and location for a crossing between Ohio SR 7 and WV SR 193 northeast of the Huntington metropolitan area.

The KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission is trying to figure out the possibility of a new bridge crossing the Ohio River, and they looked to the public Wednesday night for their thoughts.

News outlets report the bridge would be the final step in the long-anticipated Tri-State Outer Belt linking the two states and parts of Interstate 64. The KYOVA Interstate Planning Commission is asking for feedback on three potential corridors for the proposed bridge, which would be called the Huntington Outer Belt.

The KYOVA Interstate Commission took time to get public opinion, as the new bridge could affect several businesses and homes. Community members filled out surveys and gave their input on if the bridge is wanted in the area.
