The Harold Everett “Hal” Greer Memorial located next to the Cam Henderson Center honors the late NBA star and Marshall University alumnus for his contributions to basketball and desegregation of higher education athletics. ETA partnered with Marshall University’s Department of Athletics to create a plaza and support system centered around the 8-foot commissioned statue of the basketball player.
The boundary of the project space is lined with black marble benches and newly planted landscaping, set atop a gray cobblestone to make the space stand out. The design is anchored by the black, marble base on which the statue rests, engraved with Hal Greer’s name. Three perforated panels of kelly green and white suspended on matching marble create a Marshall-themed backdrop for the honored alumnus.
