To address the growing demand for high-quality cybersecurity education in the Tri-State area, Mountwest Community and Technical College partnered with Edward Tucker Architects to create a state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Training Center. This 1,200-square-foot facility, located at the Huntington campus, was designed to support cybersecurity training and e-sports competitions.
The project involved transforming two existing computer labs into cutting-edge spaces, each featuring distinct color motifs to signify team versus team gameplay. Flexible furniture layouts allow the labs to accommodate a variety of training activities and competition formats, ensuring maximum usability.
A central glass-walled viewing room connects the labs and offers a relaxing environment for spectators. This space is furnished with couches and bar seating, enabling viewers to switch between watching live competitions in the labs and following streamed content on a large central television.
To enhance the atmosphere, new inset lighting fixtures were installed. These programmable lights can adjust to any color scheme, including multicolored settings, creating a fun and vibrant environment for training and competitions alike. This innovative renovation underscores Mountwest’s commitment to advancing cybersecurity education and fostering the growth of e-sports in the region.
