Health Science Parking Garage

The project consists of a 700 space, 255,360 square foot concrete parking garage, with precast concrete structure. The site was an existing surface parking lot along 15th Street, near the Health Science campus of Marshall University. The structure serves the recently constructed graduate student housing at The Landing, as well as the medical office and higher education buildings on the campus. The structure is 4 levels, 3 above grade. The project delivery was design, bid, build. The construction cost was $13 million. The project took 12 months to construct, by contractor Carl Walker Parking.

Parking Garage

The Project consists of a 4-level precast concrete Parking Garage, precast concrete structure on auger cast pile foundations. The site is on an existing surface parking lot to the south of the Hospital/Medical Center. The parking garage is designed to accommodate 629 cars. The approximate interior Project area of all floors is 217,000 square feet. The cost to build including design and owner’s security work – $11.5 million / 629 cars = $18,283 / car
Work includes site demolition, utility relocations, auger cast pile foundations, precast concrete structure (columns, beams, spandrels, litewalls, shear walls, double-tee floors, stairs (two) and elevator towers), one hydraulic elevator, plumbing, mechanical, electrical power and lighting, bioretention, and other landscaping.
